Michael Herrera
Beginning Piano and Advanced Guitar Instructor.
Mr. Herrera studied for his B.A. degree
in Music and Guitar Performance at Foothill College, Los Altos, California
and California State University, Hayward, California. In 1982, Mr.
Herrera was one of seven classical guitarists chosen by Christopher
Parkening to study with him in a classical guitar master class
at Montana State University.
Michael has been greatly influenced by
jazz guitar author, composer and performer Warren Nunes and he has studied
with Bob Marshal, a Warren Nunes protégé, folk/rock recording
artist Martin Simpson, and jazz pianist and teacher Mark Levine.
He has performed classical and rock guitar in numerous productions which
include Man of La Mancha under the direction of Jim Heinen, Via Crucis
with the Valley Choral Society under the direction of Philip Manwell.
He has also played with the Diablo Valley Guitar Ensemble under the direction
of Richard Flores.
Currently, Mr. Herrera performs classical
guitar on Norman Patrick Morrison's Dance and O' Child of God album which
is on the Internet and has had radio airplay in the United Kingdom and
Malta.
Mr. Herrera teaches guitar for all ages,
levels and styles - jazz, blues, folk, classical rock, pop, country!
Mr. Herrera currently resides in Castro Valley, California.
